On this day in 1948, The Ed Sullivan Show (originally titled Toast of the Town), made its first debut on
CBS.
The show featured a variety of entertainment acts including opera singers, circus acts, rock stars and everything
in between.
One of the most famous was on February 9, 1964 when an estimated 73 million viewers tuned in to watch The
Beatles.
