Interesting Joseph Shelby Facts

After Robert E. Lee's surrender, Joeseph Shelby and about 1,000 of his troops refused to quit and headed to Mexico. In order to prevent his flag from falling into the hands of the Federals, he sank the flag in the Rio Grande River near present-day Eagle Pass, Texas. His actions have earned he and his men the nickname "The Undefeated".
