The Louisiana Purchase Treaty is Signed by
Robert Livingston, James Monroe, and Barbe Marbois
On this day in 1803, Robert Livingston, James Monroe, and Barbe Marbois signed the Louisiana Purchase Treaty.
This treaty has been called by some "the letter that bought a continent".
After the treaty was signed, Robert Livingston said "We have lived long, but this is the noblest work of our whole
lives... From this day the United States take their place among the powers of the first rank."
