May 27, 1933

The Century of Progress World's Fair
Opens in Chicago, Illinois

On this day in 1933, The Century of Progress worlds fair opened in Chicago, Illinois to celebrate the city's centennial. The theme of the fair was technological innovation.

Some of the highlights of the fair were the German airship Graf Zeppelin, Cadillac's V-16 limousine, and the Packard which won best of show.

The Golden Gate Bridge Officially Opens

On this day in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge was officially opened in San Francisco, California by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
