Thomas Paine Publishes One of a
Series of Pamphlets Titled
The American Crisis

On this day in 1776 Thomas Paine published one of thirteen pamphlets he titled The American Crisis. These pamphlets were published by the end of 1777 (three more were published by 1783)

The pamphlets were meant to improve the morale of the American colonists and denounce the proponents of a negotiated peace.
