Confederate President Jefferson Davis
is Captured by Union Troops in Irwinville, Georgia.

On this day in 1865, Confederate president Jefferson Davis was captured by Union troops at the end of the American Civil War. Rumors at the time suggested that Davis was wearing womens clothing when captured to avoid capture, however, those present at that time have denied those rumors
