Four Conspirators in the Assassination
of Abraham Lincoln are Hanged
On this day in 1863, Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, David Herold, and George Atzerodt were hanged for their parts
in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
The actual trigger man, John Wilkes Booth had already been shot and killed on April 26 by Union soldiers after a
twelve day manhunt.
